KING ICT @ Croatian Security Days 2024

Matija Mandić, Director of Physical Security and Passive Network Solutions Sector at KING ICT, actively participated in the ‘Croatian Security Days 2024’ conference. Matija took part in the “Security of Security” panel, discussing the integration of cyber security in physical protection systems.
He emphasized that cyber threats are becoming increasingly complex, making the implementation of security standards that help prevent attacks more crucial than ever.

“Today’s threats are becoming increasingly complex and dangerous. Therefore, it is essential to prevent harmful events by utilizing careful system design and implementing relevant security standards. Modern CPUs used in physical protection devices, particularly cameras, are extremely powerful. While they allow the use of highly advanced video analytics, they also create opportunities for executing malicious scripts – such as ransomware – which can put entire systems out of commission,” Matija emphasized.

He also pointed out that manufacturers are increasingly modifying their technologies with digitally signed firmware and TPM chips (crypto processors) in order to enhance device security.
Matija also discussed cloud solutions, highlighting their enhanced security features and high levels of availability. They achieve this through advanced encryption, redundancy, and automated updates.
Finally, the significance of the NIS2 Directive was also mentioned, as it provides guidelines and also mandates specific measures that organizations must implement to ensure an adequate level of cyber security.

In conclusion, Matija emphasized, “It is important to highlight the significance of a comprehensive approach to security, involving a thorough risk assessment in both the physical and cyber domains.”
