At the Grand Prix Security award ceremony held on 15 October in Opatija, KING ICT was awarded with two prestigious awards.
In the category “The Most Representative Security System Project”, the award was received by Hrvatske autoceste – KING ICT – Securitas Hrvatska for the project “Video Surveillance System and Automated Incident Detection (AID) on Motorways and in Tunnels”.
In the category “The Best Business Sector Project in the Realization of Community Safety” Hrvatske vode – KING ICT – KONČAR Digital were unanimously declared winners for the project “VEPAR” (Water Ecological Monitoring, Analysis and Solutions).
While the VEPAR project plays a major role in flood risk reduction throughout Croatia, the project for Hrvatske autoceste will help increase the safety in traffic on motorways and in tunnels and speed up responses in case of accidents.
They say from KING ICT how extremely proud they are to have won not just one, but two prestigious awards, and recognitions like these serve as further motivation to continue investing in innovation, quality, and the expertise of their teams, as well as in creating solutions that deliver real value to users and society.

VEPAR is exceptionally important for strengthening Croatia’s resilience to climate challenges and natural disasters. We are proud that KING ICT experts contributed with their knowledge and solutions to one of the largest hydrological projects in Europe”, said Matija Mandić, Director of the Sector for Mechanical Protection and Passive Networks at KING ICT.
As far as the project for Hrvatske autoceste is concerned – the ultimate goal of this system is also security.
“The tunnels are now equipped with cameras and next-generation video analytics algorithms that reliably detect wrong-way driving, stopped or slow vehicles, pedestrians, fallen objects, as well as the earliest signs of smoke or fire. Timely alerts to operators enable rapid response, preventing tragedies and saving lives, because in a tunnel, every second can make the difference between safety and disaster”, emphasized Matija.
On the first day of the conference, Matija also gave a lecture titled “A Holistic Approach to Security: Integrated Security Aligned with NIS2”. Using concrete practical examples, the presentation demonstrated how applying an integrated technical protection system can effectively address contemporary security challenges.
Grand Prix Security awards are awarded by the Croatian Association of Security Managers, a voluntary professional association established in 2007 in Zagreb. Its members are professionals responsible for managing security processes in the public and private sectors, making these awards especially meaningful.
